Laura's Channel: www.youtube.com/@CouchPolyglot
In this conversation, Luca and Laura discuss language learning, the impact of artificial intelligence on language learning, the use of AI tools, the importance of passion and routines in language learning, and the common principles of successful polyglots. They also touch on the challenges of language learning, the mindset required for success, and the importance of not comparing oneself to others. Luca and Laura also share information about their respective language learning channels and podcasts.
Takeaways
Language learning should be fun and enjoyable, emphasizing communication over perfection.
Artificial intelligence is changing language learning, but human interaction and the human component remain essential.
Passion and routines are crucial for successful language learning.
Comparing oneself to others in language learning is counterproductive, and individual circumstances and priorities should be considered.
Polyglots have different methods and approaches, but they share a passion for language learning and the importance of routines.
The mindset and beliefs of language learners play a significant role in their success.

Many beginners want to directly speak with a complex syntax as they do in their native language and end up translating from it. This is exactly what I tell them, try to express yourself with how much language you have and that means making it easier

An important topic and some good advice. But I hit the stop button at half time, when the music became louder than your voice. I consider background music as noise anyway, but this was foreground music, serving no purpose.

Some people do indeed speak a foreign language with a native like accent, but I assume they're not particularly common. Part of the problem with this concept is particular people who are more or less tone deaf regarding the particular sound characteristics of a foreign language, and they're essentially incapable of hearing what other people can easily distinguish. I had a speech impediment when I was a kid. Being with a speech therapist eventually made it easier for me to comprehend proper pronunciation in my foreign language of Spanish.

From my point of view a self-claimed polyglot always has to start showing his official B1 certificate. Surely, you can pass an exam and be very shy person and be not able to speak fluently, but it doesn't work vice versa: in case you have B1 (at least) certificate, it means you really can speak, read, write and listen the language :) Our "YT-polyglot" mostly don't show their cerficiates :)

Answer: As long as the accuracy is about 95% or higher, yes. (Watch my Yakko’s World Google Translate video to find out the accuracy. I use 100 words worth of difficult sample paragraphs to translate and then put it back to English and every word that is wrong gets 1 point off.)

I'd have definitely paid $100s if not close to $1k under a payment plan in the case you had a course for learning italian thanks to the amount of GREAT free emails. Very, very admirable indeed hermano. Cheers from Puerto Rico, Lucas!

Freundschaftsbezeigung? I suspect you mean Freundschaftsbezeugung or Freundschaftsbeweis. I've never heard Freundschaftsbezeigung in my life (I'm german) - Freundschaftsbezeugung comes from Freundschaft and Bezeugung (from bezeugen - to testify) and Freundschaftsbeweis from Beweis (beweisen - to give evidence, to prove something). Nonetheless, those two examples still prove your point. However, it would be nice if you could get your examples straight. Thanks! Greetings from Berlin
